Neither Brenda Terry nor her late husband Lee attended Midwestern State University, but the couple wanted to encourage visually impaired students pursuing degrees. While making their estate plan, they chose to establish a scholarship that would one day fulfill that desire.

“We wanted to keep our support local,” she said. “MSU is our hometown university.”

After Brenda earned her bachelor’s degree, she returned to her hometown of Wichita Falls where she met West Virginia native Maurice “Lee” Terry. Both visually impaired, they spent their careers working for the Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind. Lee passed away in 2015 after a brief illness.

With a gift in her will, Brenda is establishing the Maurice and Brenda Terry Scholarship Endowment created to support and encourage students with visual impairments or other disabilities while they are earning degrees at MSU Texas.
