Each year MSU receives bequests from alumni and friends who never told us we were in their wills. While we are so grateful for these generous donors and their willingness to support the future of the University, it’s disappointing when we are unable to thank them directly. To acknowledge those who have included MSU in their wills or other estate plans, we created the 1922 Legacy Society.

In 1922 the creation of Wichita Falls Junior College was an investment in future generations of individuals who grew professionally and personally from their experiences on campus. Students walked through the doors of Wichita Falls Junior College, Hardin Junior College, Midwestern University, or Midwestern State University and emerged as successful teachers, scientists, artists, doctors, entrepreneurs, and business and community leaders. As the University nears its 100th anniversary, the 1922 Legacy Society recognizes alumni and friends who continue the tradition of investing in the future of MSU by honoring our donors who have made a planned gift.

Membership in the 1922 Legacy Society is granted to any individual or couple who shares documentation of their planned gift, without regard to the amount of the gift or the age of the individual. Gifts may be unrestricted for the benefit of the University or may be designated to support an area of your choice.

Join the 1922 Legacy Society

Simply inform us in writing that you have included the University in your estate plan and provide us with one of the following pieces of documentation:

  • A completed signed planned giving intention form
  • A copy of the pertinent provisions in your will or trust
  • A copy of the life insurance policy naming the University as beneficiary
  • A letter from your attorney stating that you have included MSU in your estate plan

Letting us know of your intention to support MSU in your estate plan is important for you and the University. It lets you ensure the gift is used the way you want and be counted as a donor while letting us show our appreciation and recognize you during your lifetime. Documenting your bequest will be kept confidential and does not make it binding or irrevocable—you still have the liberty to revise your estate plan if your circumstances or priorities change.

If you prefer, you can join the 1922 Legacy Society anonymously and choose to have your name kept from publication. Keep in mind, we never publish dollar amounts without permission—and your commitment could encourage others to support Midwestern State University.
